MEGASTRUCTURE DISCOVERY? - Kepler Telescope has identified curious dips in light
in a distant star under observation. It was speculated to be an alien
megastructure, but the story gets stranger still. Old images dating back to the
1890s show it was once noticeably brighter than it is today. This makes the
theory of comet storms unlikely due to the steady predictable pattern. A theory
surfaced about a partially collapsed megastructure constructed by a very
advanced civilization. A Dyson Sphere, a hypothetical megastructure, is a solar collector which encompasses
a star to harness its power. Such ideas are the
stuff of science fiction legend. An energy hungry alien society harnessing star
power to fuel its long-term survival. Every great story begins with
‘what if?’ … could humans have a distant alien neighbor in our cosmic
neighborhood? I have no idea.
